Thursday, December 22, 2022. She had just celebrated her 75th birthday. In 1978, after meeting at Watson Oil Company, she married Robert G. Hall (deceased 1985) of Liberty, TX.
Parents, Gus C. and Annie Mae Koschany; and her brother, Gary Koschany (Sheri) predeceased her. Karen is survived by her two children, Jason A. Hall and Sonya L. Hall (Kris); as well as, her brothers Carl Koschany (Barbara) and Kent Koschany (Randall), and sister, Kay Koschany Doe (Thomas) Also, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Karen attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic School, Black Jr. High, and S.P. Waltrip Sr. High (class of 1966). She received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (minor Geography) from University of Houston (class of 1971). Karen, known as “Tootsie”, to family and her students when she taught dance at Eleanor Eason School of Dance and Linda Sullivan School of Dance during the 1960’s and 1970’s. Tootsie started dance lessons at age 4; and, began teaching when she was 16 years old continuing until she married. Tootsie always won the Scrabble games and played cards to win! She enjoyed reading and making jigsaw puzzles, too.
After years working at Mosehart-Schleeter Co., Inc., Karen retired in 2018. Thanks to the Graff family (John, Cullen, Don) for their many kindnesses during the time of Karen’s illness. The family expresses our sincere gratitude to NorthGate Forest Senior Living and Heart to Heart Hospice Care for their daily support and care of Karen.
All services will be held at Pat H. Foley and Company located at 1200 W 34th St., Houston, TX 77018.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 20, 2023 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Her funeral service will be Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 10:00am followed by internment at Guedry Cemetery, Batson, TX 77519.
