Juanita Jiles was born on March 12, 1958 to the late Rhoda Mae Jiles and Thornton Charles Smith in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is the third daughter of six children, which consist of four sisters and two brothers.
Juanita attended and graduated from John McDonogh Sr. High School in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1977. After which she relocated to Houston, Texas and built a legacy that has left those who know and love her very proud. Juanita began serving the city of Houston on May 26, 1981 where she started her career with the Houston Police Department. She continued to serve the city until her retirement in 2004. After retiring from HPD, Juanita joined Core Civic-Houston Processing Center in 2005, where she was employed at the time of her passing. In addition to her selfless service to the city, Juanita was also an amazing mother. On May 31, 1987, Juanita would become a loving, committed, and caring mother to her first daughter, Melissa. Five years later, on November 28, 1992, she would witness another blessing in the birth of her second daughter Marissa.
Juanita was special to everyone who knew her. You could always count on her to whip up a delicious Sunday meal, find all the great shopping deals, and play the winning lotto numbers on a regular basis! More importantly, you could count on Juanita's loving support, strong words of advice and encouragement, and her giving heart. Juanita's love for her family was evident. She enjoyed spending her time with them, and they loved spending time with her.
Ms. Juanita Jiles was preceded in death by her parents Rhoda Mae Jiles and Thornton Charles Smith, her brother Michael Jiles, Sr., and her first precious fur baby, Angel Mae.
Juanita leaves to cherish her memories, two children, Melissa Bryant (Ray), Marissa Golden, three sisters, Gail Winesberry (Marvin), Catherine Hunter, Lisa Eskridge (Lazerick), one brother, Dwight Jiles, six nephews, four nieces, a host of other relatives and friends, and her loving fur baby, Pepper Rose.
A visitation for Juanita will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will occur Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A committal service will occur Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM.
