Juanita graduated from Martha high school as Salutatorian, where she was a Drum Major in the Martha high school band and went on to play at the 1939 Cotton Bowl. Following high school, Nita attended Southwest Teacher’s College in her hometown of Altus, Oklahoma as well as Draughon’s Business School in Dallas, Texas.
She was married to Frank C. Collins in 1942 and moved to Houston, Texas in 1947. In Houston, Juanita became a Pioneer Realtor in the Memorial area with Piney Point Realtor. Following her time with Piney Point Realtor, Juanita became a Gallery Consultant and Manager with Galerie Barbizon.
Nita was a devout Catholic and enjoyed meeting and learning from different religions and communities through God. She was a Charter Member at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. She also spent time with St. Monica Altar Guild, St. Francis of Assisi Family Guild, and Memorial Forest Women’s Club.
Juanita Collins was predeceased by both her parents, her son Jeffrey, her two sisters, and all six of her brothers. She is survived by her beloved children, Tom and his wife Liz, John, David, Mark and his wife Lori, and Susan, her grandchildren Antar, Alex, JohnPaul, Joe, Jesse, Marisa, Justin, Paige, Jacob, and Carter, her nephew Jon Davis, and nieces Jackie Harris, Vicki Dungan, Debbie Archer.
