Juan Peña, 77, of Houston, TX entered God’s Kingdom on May 10, 2023. He was born on April 4, 1946, in Matamoros, Mexico and was the youngest of eight children born to Encarnacion Peña Saldaña and Irene Silva Torres. He graduated from Academia Mercantil de Matamoros with a degree in accounting and served as a private accountant for many years. He migrated to the United States in 1984 where he performed several professions until he began working as a custodian for the Houston Independent School district where he retired after twenty years of service.
Juan was a charismatic and joyful man, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was a devout Catholic whose love of Christ and Our Lady of Guadalupe was reflected in every aspect of his life.
For almost forty years, Juan served on countless ministries and parishes in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. His love of God, his conversion testimony, and his joyful spirit touched the lives of many people in these Christian communities.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Maria Rosalba Perez de Peña and his children, Juan Peña, Rene Peña, Ricardo Peña, Maria Guadalupe Peña-Alfaro and Irene Peña, his children-in-law Patricia Peña, Beatriz Peña and Will Alfaro and his grandchildren Cecilia Peña, Ivan Alexander Peña, Juan Eduardo Peña, Angelica Guadalupe Alfaro and Oliver Franco Alfaro.

A visitation for Juan will be held Monday, May 15, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A rosary will occur Monday, May 15, 2023 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Assumption Catholic Church, 901 Roselane Street, Houston, Texas 77037. A committal service & burial will occur Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Brookside Memorial Park.
