Born in La Presita Villa de Guadalupe, S.L.P. Mexico, Mr. Hinojosa immigrated with his wife and children from his native land to Houston in the late 1970’s.
Notwithstanding a third grade education, he was very clever. He kept up with current daily events. An unquestionable family man with very deep-rooted committed family values. The love and commitment for his family superseded anything and everything...including, but not limited to fully participating and completing a full 13.1 mile half marathon with his daughter Lucy in November 2009.
The son of late Josefa and Ernesto Hinojosa, he was the oldest of 4 brothers and was the middle of 3 sisters. On March 1976, he married his wife Virginia Rodriguez Hinojosa.
He enjoyed devoting time to his four horses (3 females and 1 male) at his ranch in Crosby, Texas. Furthermore, he enjoyed classical music from his very youth and loved dancing Spanish Polka.
A friendly, giving person at heart, who was never short of friends and would take the time to visit them even if in route to a different direction or would call just to say “Hello, my friend!” He was very well liked by all and had no problems of making more friends.
A very consistent hardworking and responsible person with much dedication to his work, ranch as well as his home. There was never a person that not only enjoyed working with him, but also never had anything negative to say about him. As per his co-workers, he worked harder than any two younger men combined together, and enjoyed doing so. His co-workers loved it when Mr. Hinojosa cooked a homemade meal for them at work. He worked in the grain industry for more than 30 years when he retired in 2008.
Never too tired to give a helping hand, quite willing to volunteer to help anyone in need whether it be taking out their trash, working on their yard or helping around with their landscaping. He was the most humble and generous man ever known. He never met a person who didn't become his friend. He enjoyed life to the fullest as he pleased.
Mr. Hinojosa is survived by his wife, Virginia Hinojosa, his 5 daughters (Lucy, Esmeralda, Josie, Sonya and Perla), his 3 grandchildren (Lizette, Juan Diego & Valeria), his brother Miguel and sister Maria and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. The unconditional love from his family and friends’ will supersede his death.
Visitation will begin Tuesday, March 16th from 8:00 AM till 9:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale with a Rosary to be recited in the Main Chapel at 7:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Church, 7250 Harrisburg Blvd with Rite of Committal to be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8701 Almeda-Genoa Road.
