Juan received a Bachelor’s Degree from University of Houston Clear Lake. He was married to Lillie Longoria Gonzales for 44 years.
Juan worked in Federal Law Enforcement for the Veterans Administration Police Department in Houston, Texas where he honorably served and retired at the rank of Captain. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran, having honorably served with the 101st Airborne Division Screaming Eagles during his multiple tours in Vietnam at the rank of Sergeant. His dedication earned him many prestigious commendations and medals such as the Bronze Star, US Army Air Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, US Army Presidential Unit Citation, US Army Meritorious Unit Citation, US Army Valorous Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal w/ 1 Silver and 1 Bronze Star.
Juan had a passion for Golf, spending time with his family and grandchildren, and enjoying the clinging and ringing of bells at the casinos in Louisiana.
He is survived by his daughter Blue Hernandez and her husband Rick Hernandez Jr; son Eddie Longoria; grandchildren RJ Hernandez III, Ian James Hernandez, Christina Hailey O’Neal, Eddie Longoria Jr., and Alex Longoria; sister Eduvina Cantu; brothers Manuel Perez, Elias Sanchez, Willy Aguilar, and Paul Sanchez. He was preceded in death by his mother Beatrice Perez, sister Esperanza Robles, brother Eric Aguilar, and his granddaughter Lillie Skye Hernandez.
A visitation will be held in his honor on Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. inside the Chapel of American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038. The Celebration of Life service will commence at 12:00 p.m. after which he will be escorted to the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038, where Juan will be laid to rest with honors.
