Joyce M. McMullen

Joyce McClary McMullen peacefully passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012. She was born March 9, 1917 in Livingston, Texas to Mae and Thomas Barto McClary. Joyce moved to Houston, Texas in 1931. She is preceded in death by her husband, Doyle E. McMullen; son, Charles King Strait and daughter-in-law, Mary Jean Buffington. She is survived by grandchildren, Cheryl Alvarez and Brad Davis; great-grandchildren, Faith Brons and Shelby Alvarez; two great-great-grandchildren, Kaila and Skyler, nieces, Sarah Jane McMullen and Julie Ann McMullen of Houston.

Joyce was a long-time member of Lazybrook Baptist Church and a devoted Sunday School teacher for many years.

Joyce’s funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Heights Funeral Home. There will be a visitation at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home immediately preceding the funeral. Interment will follow in Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Joyce’s caregivers, Cruz, Eva, and Yuri, as well as Mrs. Reagan and her nursing staff at Seven Acres Nursing Home.
