Joyce D. Martel

Joyce Marie Duke Martel, age 88 years of age ,earned her Heavenly Crown on August 29,2015 in the care of her loving Family. She was born August 15,1927 in Donaldsonville, Louisiana to Arthur and Clara Duke.

After graduating High School, Joyce Moved to New Orleans and was married to Charles Raymond Martel, until his untimely death at age 30. Joyce would later marry Robert Nicholas Martel and enjoy almost 40 years of Marriage until Robert went to be with the Lord in 1987.

Joyce was an active member for many years of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in New Orleans.She retired from the Accounting Department of Pan American Life Insurance Company.

Joyce had many passions in life, particularly LSU and New Orleans Saints Football. She loved all things New Orleans: Creole Food, Jazz Music, and the rattling of the Trolley lumbering down Canal Street. However, Joyce's ultimate passion was her Faith in Christ. She came to Faith in Jesus as a little girl while marveling at a depiction of the Savior Child sleeping peacefully in the Manger.

Her while life was a love song to him. Her Faith was as much part of her life as breathing.

Joyce left behind Family and friends who will miss her greatly.

She is survived by: Daughter Jan Marie Martel Daniels and Husband Donny, Daughter Karen Martel McFeron and Husband Lance, grandchildren Austin Keene,Deanna Conklin,Audrey Besson-Pippins,Clayton McFeron,Sarah Martel Naquin and soon to be born, Great Grandson Jesse Keene.

The Family would like to thank Mom's longstanding Doctors Mohammed Irfan and Ahmad Aslam, and Houston Hospice for their compassionate end of life care.

Internment and Memorial Service will be conducted at a later date in New Orleans.
