And the Lord said, my presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.
On early Monday morning , September 14,2020, after many years of surpassing the world’s earthly expectation, the Lord called a strong, beloved young man home to eternal rest. Joshua Devone Johnson was born to the late Jacqueline D. Johnson and Joseph E. Williams on February 19,1994. Joshua had always been wise beyond his years. As a little boy, he was very outstanding, curious, and quite frankly, thought that he was the boss.
Joshua accepted Christ and was baptized at Greater Pure Light Church at age of 9. He later joined his family and made Seed of Faith Ministries his church home under the leadership of Pastor Travis J. Moore,Sr. Joshua believed in the power of prayer, and he would often let others know that he and they would be ok because God had them.
Joshua graduated from Sam Houston High School, Class of 2013. He loved going to school and was extremely popular. His teachers and classmates loved him even more, even crowning him Prom King.
Joshua was a people person. As a little boy, everyone in the neighborhood knew Josh, and he knew everyone. Receiving a brain cancer diagnosis at the age of 6 did not slow Joshua’s mind, spirit, determination, or mouth down. His well-known bright and wide smile will always be remembered. Joshua loved watching sport, and of course was an avid Texans fan. If you were a fan of any other team, Josh was sure to ring your phone, especially after a loss, to inform you that he watched your team take a beating. Josh loved a good conversation, especially one-way with him doing the talking.
Joshua was preceded in death by his loving mother, Jacqueline Johnson who unselfishly cared for Josh and was his biggest cheerleader until her death; and his grandparents, Rena B. Moore, William T. Moore, and Johnny T. Watts.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted sister and caregiver, Jocelyn Johnson; brother Jahson Gibbs; two nephews Jaiden and Jace Robinson; faithful aunt and caregiver , Lorie Johnson; uncles and aunts, Jimmy Forte(Sharon), James Johnson(Marion), Wilbert Johnson(Charlotte), Robert Johnson(Lou), Etta Johnson, Travis Moore, SR.(Sylvia), Veronica Miller, Florita Moore, Domasque Moore(Shakia), Dwight Mosby, Brenda Talbert, Jesse Patton, Freddie Patton(Charlotte), Helen Adams(Lester), Edna Johnson, Linda Granger(Micheal), Linda Johnson, Jane Williams; Godmother, Joyce Beal; home healthcare nurse for 12 years, Lukman Lawal; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Joshua Johnson touches the lives of many and will always be a reminder of strength, love, and the young man whose smile always lit up the room.
