Following a 10 year battle with liver cancer, Giuse Joseph Phước Văn Trương, 78, passed away on April 27, 2019.
He was born May 15, 1940 in Trung An, Quảng Trị, Việt Nam, to the late Baptiste Giáo Văn Trương and Thão Thị Trần. Growing up, he learned carpentry working at his father’s construction business in Việt Nam. As a young man he joined the South Vietnamese military. During his military career, he played the slide trombone in the South Việt Nam Military Band. Before leaving his home country, he was posted with the United States Army and Air Force Exchange Service as a Warehouse Supervisor. In 1975, he sought refuge in the United States with his family. He then supported his family by learning a trade in electronics. Later he had a career in the medical field as a Biomedical Engineer. In addition, he loved gardening, capturing moments on video and with photography, and being a part of his church choir.
He is survived by his daughter Xuân Chan, her husband Myron, and grandchildren, Evan and Emily; his daughter Loan Trương; his son, Tấn Trương and his wife Karen and grandchildren Koraline and Krystaline; his son Wayne Hoàng Trương and his spouse Canion Boyd; his son John Liêm Trương and his wife Fanny Laurent. He is also survived by his sisters Lucie Trương, Chris Triều Trương Oba, his brother Thiên Văn Trương, his sisters Mary Tão Thị Trương, and Amy Mỹ Thị Trương; and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed greatly by his loved ones and many friends!
Visitation will be held at Brookside Funeral Home Cypress Creek, 9149 Hwy 6 N, Houston, TX 77095, on Thursday, May 9th, and Friday, May 10th from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM. A Funeral Mass in Memory of Giuse Joseph Phước Văn Trương will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 6550 Fairbanks North Houston Rd, Houston, TX 77040. The family invites mourners to join them at the internment following the Mass at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Fwy, Houston, TX 77039.
