Joseph Henry Parham Sr. heard the angels call his name on the morning of June 7, 2024, and spread his wings to join them. Joseph was born on February 7, 1948, to Joseph and Cora Parham in St. Petersburg Florida. He was the oldest of eight children. He went to Gibbs High School and was drafted into the US Army, in March 1968. His ability to captivate other's was matched only by his will to be the best version of himself. Joseph was strong willed and had an enormous heart and a wonderful sense of humor.
Joe never hesitated to open his doors to someone in need. He truly made an impact on anyone he came in contact with and always knew what advice to give and how to make you smile. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained from all his life experiences. Joe's main occupation was construction but he was a jack of all trades. Most of all he was a loving husband, father, and an extraordinary foster parent to numerous children.
He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Parham, mother Cora Parham, sister Jacqueline Parham, brother Glenn Parham, and grandson Kendrick.
Joseph Henry Parham Sr. leaves behind his loving wife he married on June 7, 1971, of 53 years, Modistine Parham. Their union produced five children Marcan (Shonna), Katia, Yadorian, Joseph Jr. and Darrius Parham and Godchild Tanya, along with 15 grandchildren: Alexia, Megan, Lauren, Bryce, Kaitlyn, Michael, Jalen, Lydia, Greyson, Graham, Kelly Grace, Addison, Joseph III, Camryn, Aa'mazi and four great-grandchildren. His siblings are Robert Parham, Ellen Reed (Earnest), Reginald Parham, Timothy Parham (Carol), and Clarice Crespo (Isaias).
Joe will be remembered for all of the funniest aphorisms meant to educate such as. "Be yourself or be by yourself", "What flavor you like", "Walking on quicksand, walk slow, the faster you walk the deeper you sink", "You know it", "25 years and 65 dog days", "Fight fast", and the all-time favorite
"I got me a giggler".
A visitation for Joseph will be held Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077, followed by a funeral service from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
