Joe Matejka died peacefully at home on December 7, 2021. Joseph Matejka, Jr was born to Joe Matejka, Sr and Irene (Garfield) Matejka on October 20, 1942 in Chicago, IL . He enjoyed his young years growing up in Omaha, Monroe, and Columbus, NE. He attended Creighton University in Omaha, NE before pursuing a career in business beginning with his father’s company, Omtronics, in Omaha, NE. He later joined Vishay Dale Electronics from which he retired as VP of Quality Assurance in 1995. He had an inquisitive mind and always pursued a better understanding of those many areas of interest. He loved family life and with his great sense of humor made holiday gatherings extra special as “director of entertainment” for the grandchildren. He was a generous, humble, and fair man who will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife Margaret Mary Matejka of Houston, TX, daughters, Michelle (Rob) Clifton, of Phoenix, AZ; Jodee (Larry) Wasco, Plattsmouth, NE; stepchildren, Joe E. Lee, of Austin, TX; Stephanie (Kevin) Grover, Houston, TX; Jacqueline Rutledge, Dallas, TX; Christopher (Ann) Lee, Houston, TX; and Jennifer (Joshua) Martin, Houston, TX; five grandchildren and twelve step grandchildren; three brothers, Bob (Carol) Matejka, Van Alsteyne, TX; Jim (Karen) Matejka, Richland, NE; John (Cindy) Matejka, Hurricane, Utah; three sisters, Jolene Newman, Richmond, VA; Debbie (Steve) Szczerbiak, Castle Hayne, NC; and Sheila (Gary) Van Luchene, Albuquerque, NM; five grandchildren, twelve step grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Joe and Irene Matejka.
