Born August 21, 1921 and passed away November 4, 2011 in Houston, Texas. He was a very friendly and happy man who was liked by everyone he met. He always had something nice to say about everyone. He served in the Navy during World War II for six years and was a Chief Machinist’s Mate when he was discharged. He lived in several cities in the United States and moved to London as the Director of International Operations for Reed Rock Bit Company. Joe traveled extensively to many countries while working for Reed, he loved talking about where he went, and the experiences he had over the years. He was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus in the Catholic Church. In his retirement, Joe loved to travel around Texas visiting many small towns and he and Earline attended many family reunions. He was a great storyteller and loved to tell jokes and make others laugh. He loved reading books, especially on historical and political subjects.
Joe is survived by his wife of fifteen years Earline Marshall; daughter Patricia Marszalek and her husband Stanley; son Joseph Marshall; grandchildren Brian Maraszalek and his wife Mary, and Cheryl Marszalek; great-grandchildren Scott, Alexandria and Nathan Marszalek; step-daughters Jean Taylor and Janette Weaver; sisters Jean Hahn and her husband Gus; Vivian Montgomery and her husband Knox; brother Marvin Marshall and his wife Betty; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Joe will be truly missed by his family and friends.
A visitation will be held Sunday November 6, 2011 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday November 7, 2011 beginning at 10:00 am at St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church 13350 Ashford Point Drive in Houston with burial to follow at Forest Park Lawndale.
