Joseph Abner Hooper, 81, of Houston, Texas, passed away on the morning of March 22, 2011. Joe was born May 22, 1929 in Houston, the son of the late Lillie Adams, and Abner Hooper. He was the youngest of 4 siblings.
He graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1947. He enlisted in the Marine Corp. and saw action in the Korean War. He retired from Ethyl Corp in 1992 after 40 years of service. He was a scoutmaster of troop 539 in Pasadena. He was a Past Master of S.P. Waltrip Lodge #1328 A.F. & A.M. and Past Patron of Pasadena 711 and Spring Branch #984 OES.
Preceded in death by his daughter Janet Hooper and brothers Harold and Zach. Joe is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edna; son and daughter-in-law, James and Maria Hooper and their daughters Michelle and Mariel of Houston, TX; son and daughter-in-law Russell and Barbara Hooper of Houston and their daughter and son-in-law Jackie and Alan Smith with their children Josie and Alex of Houston, TX; and son and daughter-in-law Anthony and Kellie Marino with their children Madeline, Cameron, and Hayden of Austin, TX; brother, Marshall of Seattle, Washington and many other extended family members.
Visitation with the family will be held Friday, March 25, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Waltrip Funeral Home.
