Joseph Edward Hagman was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on December 13, 1930, and passed on November 7, 2024, at the age of 93. Joseph was truly a man who said yes to everyone who asked of him. In life, his generosity and sense of duty knew no bounds. Everyone who knew him could count on him to come through in a pinch, whether that was family, friends, or coworkers. He served as a United States Marine during the Korean War, earning a Purple Heart at the Battle of Inchon. After a shrapnel wound to his hand rendered him unable to serve on the battlefield, Joseph said yes to serving his country at the United States Embassy in Managua, Nicaragua, where he met his beautiful wife – Maria Lourdes Tiffer de Paiz Hagman. He returned to the United States and attended LSU, and served his country for over 60 years, retiring at the age of 84 from Ellington Air Force Base in Pasadena, Texas. Joseph’s strength provided the bedrock for a life rooted in love and service to his family and country. Whenever he entered a room, his smile told you that you were the most important person in the world. Love and duty guided him.
Joseph will be greatly missed by his loved ones, who saw him as the foundation of the family. His strong will lives on in those he loved and raised.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lourdes Hagman; his children Sybilannette Hagman, Noemy Brennan and her husband Michael Brennan, and Joseph Edward Hagman and his wife Stacy Hagman; grandchildren, Joseph Raymond Brennan, Sean Michael Brennan and his fiancé Courtney Sterry, Joseph Timothy Hagman, Gabriella Lourdes Hagman, and Nicholas Patrick Hagman.
A Memorial service will be held at 11 AM, on January 6, 2025 at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas 77038 with a reception to follow.
