after a courageous and lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Joe was a
beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Growing up in
North Texas, he graduated from Denton High School in 1956 and went on to
receive a degree in Marketing from North Texas State University. Joe worked in
Retail Marketing for Mobil Oil and retired in 1992 after 30 years of faithful
service. While excelling at his duties at Mobil Oil, he also pursued his interest in
real estate, becoming an avid investor in residential properties in and around the
Spring Branch area.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Velma Davis of Denton,
Texas, and his wife of 48 years, Dorothy Bartlett Davis. He is survived by his wife
of 9 years, Bonnie Werling Davis; sister Mary Rosanski of Golden, CO; daughter
Kayla James and husband Robert; daughter Shanna Pry and husband Gary; son
Joe Davis, Jr. and wife Cindy; Grandchildren: Rachel Kline and husband Keith; Ross
James and wife Leslie; Rebecca James; Jenna Ortmeier and husband Chris; Lindsey
Pry; Kelsey Pry; Brittany Davis; and Cody Davis. Joe’s legacy also included 5 great
grandchildren. Joe not only deeply loved his family, but he touched the lives of
many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Gary Pry, Robert James, Ross James, Cody Davis,
Chris Ortmeier, and Keith Kline.
The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 6-8pm
at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, and a service celebrating Joe’s life will be held
Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 3:00pm in the Chapel of Memorial Oaks Funeral
Home, located at 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079, with Pastor Chris
Hopf officiating.
