Joseph Napoleon Brevard

Joseph was born in Beckville, Texas on January 10, 1935 to Lanham Brevard and Irene Adams Brevard. He graduated from Beckville High School and attended Panola Junior College and eventually went to Sam Houston College (now Sam Houston State University). He graduated with a Masters degree.

Joseph married Iris Leola Cox on September 25, 1961 and they were married for 60 years before she passed. They lived in many different places as Joe was in the Army at Fort Polk, then the Army Reserves and worked for the US Department of Agriculture. They finally settled in Houston, Texas where their two children, Leigh Ann and Alan Joseph, graduated from high school. Many great memories were made until they retired in Buffalo, Texas. He and Leola loved to travel in their RV, garden, and just hang out on the back porch watching the deer, squirrels, and birds. Joe loved to hunt and fish with his son.

In his passing, Joseph is reunited with Leola, his parents, his brother, Kenneth, and his sister Jeannette. He is survived by his children Leigh Ann (Brevard) and George Martin, Alan and Stacy Brevard; his grandchildren Michael Brevard, Olivia Martin, and Sophia Martin; as well as many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024 from 5-8 pm at Pat H. Foley and Company, located at 1200 West 34th Street, Houston, Texas 77018.

Burial and graveside service will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 10:00 am at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, located at 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079.
