Born in Los Mochis, Sinaloa Mexico on April 1, 1943 to Jose Maria and Bertha Diaz, Josefina was the eldest of ten children. She came to the U.S. in 1973 to join her husband, Juan Muniz, and start a family.
Josefina was the proud parent of twin daughters Ruth and Alma and son Juan. She reveled in their academic and professional success. An amazing supporter of all their endeavors, Josefina never missed a school function, performance, competition, or graduation. This continued with her grandchildren Conner, Ricky and Colten who she cherished as an active grandmother and beloved “Ita”.
Josefina was the matriarch to her family and the godmother and comadre to many others. She was much beloved by family, friends and god-children. She was always ready for a trip to the beach, Hill Country or her native Guadalajara. She helped many families get settled in Houston, enrolled in school and start occupations that provided for their families.
Josefina is preceded in death by her father, mother and brother, Fernando Diaz.
A funeral Mass and Burial will occur Monday, January 22, 2024 at Brookside Funeral and Memorial Park. Visitation is from 12pm-2pm with a service and a burial immediately following.
