He was born to Manuel and Maria Romero on April 10, 1948 in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Mexico. Jose brought his family to the United States 32 years ago in search of a better life. His unflappable desire to provide for his wife and daughters fueled his entrepreneurial spirit as he worked tirelessly to build a profitable landscaping business, including proudly managing the grounds of former Houston Rocket and dear friend Hakeem Olajuwon for many years. Jose and his wife greatly enjoyed raising their family and taking weekly road-trips to Casino Coushatta.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Emilia, and daughters Beatriz Torres, Araceli Romero, Griselda Garay, Janet De La Paz, Maria Yeppez and Sujey Romero. Papa Pepe, as he was known to his family, will be sorely missed by all, including his son-in laws, nine grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
Friends are cordially invited to gather with the family from five until seven o'clock on Tuesday, the 4th of January, at Forest Park Lawndale. A Rosary will be recited at seven o'clock that evening. A Funeral Mass is to be offered at ten o'clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 5th of January, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where the Rev. Flavio Bravo, SJ is to officiate, with interment to follow at Forest Park Lawndale
