Jose Guadalupe Luna, 88 of Houston, Texas was born in Colotlan, Jalisco on September 21, 1934 to Epigmenio and Aurelia (Rosales) Luna and passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Jose has a wonderful sense of humor and always ready with a joke or two. He was a great story-teller; had a great work ethic, always hard working and a provider for his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He was a great father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and father-in-law, he had a never ending love for his mother, taking flowers to her gravesite twice a year up until he was no longer able since her passing.
He is survived by his 5 children, Jose Luis Luna and wife Ramona; Alicia Luna Arellano and husband, Santiago; Sandra Luna; Margarita Lara and husband, Jose Luis Lara; and Jose Guadalupe Luna, Jr. and wife, Minerva; grandchildren, Luis Gabriel Luna and wife, Patricia; Laura Marina Gutierrez and husband, Eddie; Yvette Macias and husband, Robert; Juan Luna and wife, Idalia; Samuel Luna and wife, Sendy and Ruby Martinez and husband, Ivan; Baudilia Rios; Ezequiel Pena and wife, Arlette; Cecilia Gutierrez and husband, Jose Guadalupe; Sandy Luna and Bryan Keith Luna and wife, Karen; Cristian Lara; Liani Lara, Nathan Lara and Sunshine Lara; Alex Luna and wife, Valerie, Adrian Luna and Debra Mesta and husband, Benjamin along with 32 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 nephews, Alejandro Rosales and wife, Margarita; Ramon Rosales and wife, Maria Elena and Eduardo Sanchez and Gerardo; 2 nieces, Rosalinda Trevino and husband, Marcelo and Mirna Delia Sanchez and husband, Freddy along with numerous other family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Marina Luna; sister, Maria Sanchez and his parents, Epigmenio and Aurelia Luna.
Funeral services will be held 12:00pm Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Funeraria Del Angel-Crespo, 4136 Broadway, Houston, Texas 77087 with burial following at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5:00pm until 9:00pm with a prayer service beginning at 7:00pm.
