Jose Alfredo Herrera passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the age of 75, he was born in Aguascalientes, Mexico to his parents, Alberto and Felipa Herrera. He grew up in Rio Grande City, Texas where he attended school and graduated from Rio Grande High School, after graduation he joined the US Army and was paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. In 1974 he married the love of his life, Guadalupe, he started his career with US Steel and the company went through different name changes until he retired 29 years later. Jose will be remembered by his family and friends as a humble, generous and caring man who was ready and willing to help anyone in need. His hobbies included his love for guns, bike riding in the neighborhood and playing pool .
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years of marriage, Guadalupe Herrera, his four children; Lisa Lopez, Jacquelyn Romero, Brittany and her husband Rolando Orea, Antonio Rodolfo Diaz and 8 Grandchildren all of Houston, Texas, sisters; Amalia Rangel Angelina (Ed) Barbee, Ana Herrera, Brothers; Abel Herrera, Armando (Norma) Herrera all of Rio Grande City, Texas .
He is preceded in death by his parents; Alberto Herrera and Felipa Silva Herrera, and a brother; Alberto Herrera Jr.
Family will receive guest on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a Memorial Service at 7:00 pm at Crespo Funeral Home, 4136 Broadway St., Houston, Texas with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:30 pm. The family request that in lieu of flowers to please make a donation to the American Cancer Society.
