Johnny Wade Myrick,88, born in Stockdale, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 13, 2014 in Beaumont, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Ethel Myrick; brother SSgt. Harold Myrick and niece, Billie Joyce Stevens. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 63 years, Betty Ruth Myrick; son, Dr. Terry Myrick and wife Stephanie; grandchildren, Jason Myrick and wife Courteney, Zachary Myrick, Cole Myrick; great-grandchildren, Cadien, Killian and Emerson Myrick; brother, George Myrick and wife, Joyce; sister, Joann Stallings and husband Ronald; Betty's cousin, Karolyn Griffin; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family & friends. Johnny lived in Houston most of his life, until moving to Beaumont in 1998 to be closer to his son, grandchilden and great-grandchildren. He worked for Houston Lighting and Power, retiring after 42 years of service. He enjoyed the company of others, and never met a stranger. Pallbearers for his serv0ice will be, Jason Myrick, Zachary Myrick, Cole Myrick, Harold Myrick, George Myrick and John Myrick. Honorary pallbearers will be Col. Kirt Stallings, Capt. Mark Griffin and Greg Griffin. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Celi, "Sally" to Johnny, and Josephine, for the wonderful compassion and care they showed to Johnny. The family will receive friends from 4pm-6pm on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Graveside will be held at 2pm, with procession departing at 1:45pm on Monday, February 17, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Houston and SE Texas Chapter.
