He was a long time resident of Houston, a glass cutter by trade and worked for Binswanger Glass for more than 30 years. In his spare time he was a jack of all trades. Johnnie was always busy, not one to let grass grow under his feet. In his younger days he was quite the fisherman along with his son John, (Buddy) to close family members. He loved to talk to neighbors, friends & complete strangers. His jokes & witty responses was his way of showing his love to everyone. He liked to give you a different name other than your birth name, like half-pint, too tall, my sweetie or silver bells.
He was blessed to have married two wonderful women in his lifetime, Tiny Robertson Shinkle (deceased) that he was married to for 43 years & Rose Butler Shinkle that he was married to for 16 years.
He is survived by his wife Rose, children John D. Shinkle & wife Debbie, Sylvia Shinkle Bloomer & husband Brad, Erin Shinkle, Rose Sappington, Carl Floyd & wife Cheryl, Paul Floyd & wife Kristi, Eldon Floyd & wife Kim, Alex Robertson, Ida Wilkerson & husband Bobby; his 23 grandchildren, 24 Great grandchildren, 4 Great-Great grandchildren; his sisters Judy Shinkle Fitzsimmons & Annie Shinkle Davis, as well as numerous cousins, nieces & nephews.
