John Herbert Zimmermann

He served his country (USAF) from 1953-1957. He was in the Air National Guard, Ellington Field in Houston from 1957-1979.

John was an award winning competition marks-man in rifle shooting. He loved music, fishing, bowling and working outside. John had a love for animals, which he displayed by having numerous cats and three dogs.

He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Trinity.

Preceding him in death was his father, Francis ‘Fritz’ Zimmermann; mother, Mable Zimmermann; brother, Roger Zimmermann; sister Jane Alexander and her husband Cecil.

He is survived by his wife Gloria Boatner Zimmermann; sons, James and his wife Estella Zimmermann, Richard Zimmermann and Mary Holt; daughter , Holly and her husband Jerry Lohman; two grandchildren, Christina Weems and John Robert Cress; a great-grandaughter, Kayee Weems; three step-sons and their wives, Bruce and Carole Boatner, Lewis and Carrie Boatner, Malcolm and Janet Boatner; three step-grandchildren, Riley Faye, Malcolm Dean and Jesse Lewis Boatner.

Services will be held on March 13 at 2 p.m., at Forest Park off of Westheimer in Houston.
