John was born in England on July 23, 1937 and moved to Houston in 1949 with his parents Margaret and Jack Wright. John graduated from Texas A&M in 1965 with a bachelors degree in Journalism. he served proudly in the US Navy for 4 years after which, he worked in Corpus Christi as a reporter for a local newspaper, he later moved to Houston and began working for Shell Oil Company, where he retired after a lengthy career. While at Shell, John transferred to several cities throughout the United States. John was a very devoted son to his parents and took care of his mother until her death at 100 years of age in 2004. He was very active and loved photography, travel, boating and owned and flew his own plane. John was active in the Jaguar Club of Houston, having restored a 1960 XK 150 Jaguar.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by many cousins and good friends, particularly his dear companion, Louise.
A celebration of John"s life will be held on Friday, April 15th at 3:30 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, corner of Eldridge Parkway and Memorial Drive. A reception will follow the service in Russell Hall. In lieu of flowers, John requested that contributions be made payable to Emmanuel Episcopal Church,
