John Clarence Witson, Jr.

John Clarence Witson, Jr. was born February 7, 1949 in Houston, TX. He was raised in the Heights and baptized on his father’s birthday, Feb 2, 1958 by Rev W. E. Walker at Mt Sinai Baptist Church. After graduating from Booker T Washington High School in 1967, following a teacher’s recommendation, he received his first job in the computer industry working at First City National Bank.In 1969 John took a job with Service Bureau Corp, a division of IBM, in San Francisco where he worked until his company was purchased by Dupont. Soon after, John was asked by Ross Perot to head a team of computer professionals in New York and to oversee all their operations. He worked there while attending Rutgers University.After his father’s death in 1973, John returned to Houston to begin work with Harris County’s Computer Department. After several years, he decided to follow his entrepreneurial spirit and started Contemporary Communication Corporation designing vertical market software. He was then contracted by Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority to design their first Ride-Share program.In the 1980s, John created Pacific Software, developing innovative software that quickly expanded its influence beyond Houston to serve several national companies and numerous governments in the Caribbean. Most recently, he launched VoterHistory.Com and JurorHistory.Com, which is widely used by local and national campaigns.John was loved by many for his kind and generous spirit and will be so dearly missed.He is preceded in death by his loving parents, John and Susie Witson, paternal grandparents, Clarence & Nettie Witson, maternal grandparents Lee Caulder and Lillia Douglas. John is survived by his children, Jordan Claire Fronk (husband Chris Fronk), John Mark Witson (their mother, Laura Owens Witson) and Danielle Gardner. His memory will live on in his three grandchildren, Brandon Gardner, Owen Claire Fronk and Townes Fronk. John is also survived by his brother Clarence Witson, his wife Anne, and children, Clarence Witson II, Ashley Witson and Lindsey Witson.
