John is survived by four children: Dawn Jamail (Jimmy), Paul Wells (Sandy), Joy McGill, and Mark Wells (Melody): thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and one brand-new great great-grandson. He is also survived by Laura Sutherland, a treasured family friend, and one special sister, Ethel Higginbotham.
John is predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Fammie Ellis Wells, son, John Wells, Jr., daughters, Gayle Wells, Burta Raborn, grandsons, Shayne Jamail, David Wells, and James Earl Wells.
He attended Reagan High in Houston, but graduated from Palestine High School. John proudly served in the Army during World War II. After the war, he trained and apprenticed as an electrician. In 1983, he retired as a maintenance electrician from Rhom and Haas Chemical in Pasadena.
