John Torres, dedicated to family and home peacefully passed away on October 25th, 2011. He was born in Houston and worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for 41 years. He was was self -educated and able to build his own home. He learned electronics via home-study program and created a home business of electrical appliance repair to supplement his income. He loved gardening and tending roses. He stressed the importance of education to his children and grandchildren. He also stressed the need to be responsible, self-disciplined and respectful toward others. He was always ready with an opinion and delivered it with dry wit. He was an impressive and unforgettable man and he will always be in our hearts.
He is preceded in death by wife, Juanita G. Torres and son, Roy Torres and brother, Joe G. Torres.
He is survived by son Joe Torres and wife, Judy, his daughter, Elizabeth Torres Via and husband, David. Daughter- -in law-Diana Torres , Sister-in-law -Dolores Torres and her children Alice Torres and and John Torres and family. Grandchildren- Robert Torres and wife,Cynthia and family, Cynthia Olmedo and husband,Edward and family, Jennifer Torres, John Torres, Andrea Torres and family, Melody and Danny Barefield and family, Yvonne Burman, April and Bill Schwoebell. Great--Grandchildren- Tara Burman and family, Mercedes Burman and family, Mandy and Richard Alaniz and family, Michelle Burman and family and Victoria Torres.
Visitation will be held from 5-8pm, with a Rosary at 7pm, at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home on Thursday, October 27, 2011.
Funeral Service will begin at 2pm on Friday, October 28, 2011 followed by interment in the Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
