And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love (Corinthians 1:13:13). John Glenn Talley (83), native Houstonian, passed away February 13, 2015. Born October 30, 1931 to Arthur Oren and Bertha Talley. Survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Shirley Buys Talley, children: Suzanne, Scott (wife, Moriah), Michael (wife, Veronica), Patrick, Kathleen, Annmarie , Andrew (wife, Alicia) and Marissa Talley del Rosario (husband, Lemuel), ten grandchildren: Brian White (wife, Stephanie), Christopher White, Danielle, Sofia, Alexa and JeanCarlo Talley, Alyssa and Connor Talley, Ethan and Caleb del Rosario, one great granddaughter, Amari White, sister, Mary Robinson and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, his son, John Stephen Talley, siblings: Arthur Oren Jr., James, Charles, Catherine and granddaughter, Annalise del Rosario. John attended Blessed Sacrament School, St Thomas High School and graduated from The University of Houston with a Master of Education. He served honorably in the The United States Army. He was an educator and football coach for numerous years before transitioning to a sales career. John served as a linesman with the Houston Oilers and as a referee with the Southwest Football Association for 37 years. He was deeply committed to the development of his Roman Catholic faith and was a parishioner of Queen of Peace Catholic Church for over 60 years, where he also participated in the Knights of Columbus, The Holy Name Society, San Jacinto Caravan No. 61 Order of the The Alhambra and more recently served faithfully with the CCVI Lay Associates at The Villa de Matel. John enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, watching football games, time with family and friends, good food and telling a good joke. Known as "Big John or BJ," he lived a big life, enjoyed a big family and never met a stranger! He will be missed. The family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff at Houston Hospice for the tender care provided this past week.
