John Corley Silvey, Jr., born July 17, 1922 to John C. and Mary Trauernicht Silvey in Houston, Texas, passed away July 14, 2012 in Houston. Mr. Silvey was preceded in death by his birth parents, and after their passing, his adoptive parents, Fred and Beulah Trauernicht, and by his sisters, Hazel Adams, Iva Galmiche, and Beatrice McQueen. He is survived by niece, Pam Claiborne and husband, Ed; cousins, Mildred Hill and husband, Glenn, and Robert Hart and wife, Annie, and by other cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Mr. Silvey graduated from Reagan High School, then graduated from Rice University in 1943. He served his country proudly in the Air Force during World War II, then retired as a Major from the Reserves.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012 in the Chapel of Heights Funeral Home, where the funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Historic Hollywood Cemetery, Houston, Texas.
