John Lee Sanford, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Great- Great Grandfather, Brother,Uncle, and Friend. He was born to the late Emma McDonald and William Sanford. He was theeleventh of thirteen brothers and sisters. Sisters, Comaneal Hicks, Josephine Hill, Willie MaeBryant and Emogene Spriggs, brothers, Horn, Orange, Deloch, Alvin, William and Tom V.Sanford. (all predeceased) His first wife, Bernice Culpepper(predeceased),to this union was born Rufus Dello Sanford, Sr.He united with Jessie Mae Benjamin(predeceased) in June of 1946, to this union was born Laquetta Joye Sanford. At an early age he joined Jasper Baptist Church in New Waverly. He moved to Houston, Texas in the early 1940's. He joined the Army in October of 1943 and returned home January of 1945.He was employed with Federal Reserve Bank-Houston Branch from September 24, 1941, left todo his tour of duty with the Army where he received many medals and honors. He returned homeJanuary of 1946. He retired from Federal Reserve Bank October 1, 1981 as a Sergeant with 40years of service. He joined Fifth Ward Baptist Church in the early 1950 and continued to serve as a choir memberand a member of the Male chorus until his health failed. He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Laquetta Sanford-Aubrey (Roy) New Waverly, Texas; (Jevon C. Bailey, special love one-LaKeisha D. Burkes, Jermaine C. Bailey, special loveones-Andrea and Stacia Patten, Christopher J. Bailey; two sons Rufus, Sr. (Shirley) Los Angeles,California; Deborah Howard (Carl - deceased), Christopher, Derrell (predeceased) Rufus, Jr.(Rose), Laquita, Anitra, Timothy, and LeNeice Sanford, and Johnny L. Burton, Sr.; Johnny,Jr., Patricia and Felicia Burton, sixteen great-grandchildren, one brother, Maxie Sanford,Goddaughter, D'Vonna Ross-Reece; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
