John Edward Montgomery

Our Lord and Savior called John Edward Montgomery home on May 10, 2023 at the age of 66. John was born in Iowa City, Iowa on February 19, 1957 to James Patrick Montgomery and Dorothy “Dot” Montgomery.

John was a graduate of Solon Iowa High School in the Class of ’75 and studied at William Penn University. He moved to Houston in April 2004. He married Sharon McGee Montgomery on June 22, 2019 whom he met in Houston. John was baptized on February 9, 2014 at Metropolitan Baptist Church “The Met” in Houston. He was a proud father and loved his daughters, Jennifer and Melanie, with his whole heart. John had an outgoing personality and never met a stranger. He could talk business, politics and barbecuing with the best of them. He had an easy-going smile and the most beautiful blue eyes you’ve ever seen. John was a volunteer at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for numerous years and participated in the HLSR cookoff for many years as well.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Patrick Montgomery and Dorothy “Dot” Montgomery; brothers, James Michael “Buddha” Montgomery, and Danny Montgomery; sister, Kate Neuzil.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Sharon McGee Montgomery; daughters, Jennifer Montgomery and Melanie Montgomery; bonus sons, Jaren Farrar and Colton Farrar; sisters, Peggy Montgomery-Macal, Patti Montgomery-Mullinix, Mary Young (Mike Young), Stacy Scesney (Bill Scesny); sister-in-law, Beth-Ann Montgomery; brother-in-law, Marvin Neuzil; and Marlene See Mertens (mother of Jennifer and Melanie).
