Born on November 1, 1931, John Arthur Moncrief was raised by loving Christian parents Stephen Arthur and Sadie Mae Shaw Moncrief in Houston, TX. Early in life, Arthur accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and Lord and joined the fellowship of South Main Baptist Church in Houston.
A graduate of Lamar High School, Arthur attended Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, VA. Matriculated in 1949, he was a proud graduate in the class of 1953. While at VMI he held rank in the corps of cadets each year following his “rat” year. Other activities included President of the Texan Club, the Baptist Club, President and founder of the Religious Emphasis Council. He was a member of the VMI Glee Club and was yell leader all four years of his cadetship being head yell leader his senior year.
After graduation from VMI Arthur married Kornelia Jeffries Sichol of Richmond, VA. They were blessed with three sons: John Arthur, Thomas Stephen and Timothy Sichol.
Commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, Arthur was assigned to Kessler Airforce Base Biloxi, MS. After completion of the office course in radar electronics, he applied for instructor and was accepted. He finished his active duty in this capacity.
His family moved back to Texas and Arthur went to work for Moncrief-Lenoir Manufacturing. He worked in sales and marketing, advancing to Vice President in the company.
In 1970, Arthur married Susan Gloger. They enjoyed 47 years of marriage and he lived out his final years on their ranch in Flatonia, TX.
Arthur was a member of the Tejas Vaqueros since 1971 and was active in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for over 60 years. He served as a Vice President from 1988-1990 and loved to tell stories of the “good ole days”.
He is survived by his wife Susan; three sons; brother Stephen; grandchildren Alexandra, William, Jason, Colt and Travis; and his Great Grandkids Junah, Conrad, and Mac Arthur that made him a beloved Paw Paw. In addition, he leaves behind numerous family members and dear friends who mourn his passing.

What a life he has had with the family he loved and the friends he enjoyed. He looks forward to a reunion one day.
Memorial Service will be on Tuesday November 14, 2017 @ 1:00pm at South Main Baptist Church located at 4100 Main St. Houston, Tx 77002. Interment will proceed service at 10:00AM at Forest Park Lawndale located at 6900 Lawndale, Houston, Tx 77023.
