John was born on September 1,1981 to Kathy Hendry and John Laird, Jr. in Houston, TX. He was a bright red-haired and happy baby. Growing up, he loved fishing and working on cars with his Dad, listening to rock music with his sister, Michelle, and spending quality time with his family. He enjoyed skateboarding and pranking both his sisters Ashley and Michelle. John enjoyed cooking and playing games with his Mom and Stepdad, Al. John gave the best hugs and always let his family know he loves them. During the summers, he enjoyed playing outside with his friends and cousins, Jay and Cathy. He loved going to his Aunt Malinda and Uncle Eugene's to play on the trampoline, go swimming, play hacky sack, skateboard or explore the woods with his sisters and cousins Josh, Chris and Justin. He loved attending family events, holidays, barbecues, cooking, and popping fireworks. John loved a good laugh and always seemed to make everyone smile.
After high school, John found a passion for helping others and counseled many people using prayer and the word of God to change many lives. He was a natural entrepreneur and launched a successful and highly rated mobile mechanic business on his own in 2022. His love of lending a helping hand and mechanics came together and turned into a career he genuinely enjoyed. The quote on his company’s business card was “Love what you do and Do what you love”. He did just that.
A new chapter of life began when John became a father to a beautiful baby girl that he named Ava Marie. She shares her middle name with his youngest sister, Ashley Marie. John was so excited and proud to meet Ava on November 27, 2018 and she became his greatest passion in life. The two shared a very close bond and everyone knows how proud of her he was. He loved watching Ava and Ella, Michelle’s daughter, laugh and play together. Being a father to Ava was his highest accomplishment and he was committed to her happiness everyday from that point forward.
John was predeceased by his cousin, Christopher Laird, his grandparents, John and Betty Laird, Raymond Hendry and Thomas Cavanaugh. He is survived by his daughter, Ava Laird, his Father, John Laird, Jr., his Mother and Stepfather Kathy and Al Carroll, his sister Michelle Laird, his sister and brother-in-law Ashley Salinas and Mitch Remmert, his Grandmothers Linda Boyd and Sandra Cavanaugh.
