John Fredric Johnson passed away at the age of 90 in Tyler, Texas on March 10, 2012. He was born in Houston, Texas, November 18, 1921 to John Mangus and Edith Goar Johnson. He is survived by wife, Billie Ruth “Sadie” Johnson; sisters, Eloise Godfrey and Monna Straw; children, Charlotte & Don Coin, Rodney & Rosie Johnson, John F. “Jeff” Johnson II and Susan, Cynthia & Ray Brown; grandchildren, Darin, Nathan, Jason, Anna, Sean, Christopher, Missy, Hillary, Blake and 8 great-grandchildren, all of the Houston area. Also survived by step sons Daniel, Tony and Brett Brookshire; 6 step grandchildren & 2 step great grandchildren.
Fred “Johnny” Johnson was a graduate of the University of Houston, a pilot and captain in the United States Air Force, owner of Johnny Johnson Lumber and Building Company; a Houston home builder including homes in the historic Glenbrook Valley subdivision; owner of DC Thermal.
Visitation to be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home in Houston on March 13, 2012 from 6:30pm to 8pm with a service held at Forest Park Lawndale beginning at 10 o’clock on March 14, 2012; burial following at same location.
Memorial contributions may be sent to “Rockin’ C Ranch (Christian Camp)” or Hospice of East Texas.
