John met his Queen, Arlenia, and married her on May 27, 1984. To this union, two children were born. John had three more children he raised as his own. He is preceded in death by his parents Rev and Mrs. John T. Holcombe and his brother, Glenn Holcombe.
John confessed his life to Christ at an early age. He attended St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church (Houston, TX), Omega Missionary Baptist Church (Houston, TX), Lake Station (Shepherd, TX), and Yale Street Baptist Church (Houston, TX). John loved singing with the Inspirational Choir and Male Chorus.
John attended Marshall Jr High, and there he played in World Wide Band. Then he attended Kashmere High School and played in the Kashmere Marching Band and Kashmere Stage Band. He left home to attend “G-S, G-S, G-S-U-U-U, I thought you knew!” and play in the World-Wide Famous Band of Grambling State University.
John was very musically inclined. He played the keyboard, trombone, tuba, and an assortment of other brass instruments. He had a passion for music and was able to play songs by ear.

John left behind to cherish his memories: his wife, Arlenia. Children: Jharvis , JaQuanna, Jerica, Chris, and Raven. Brothers: Edward Lee, James, Rodney (Patricia), Alex (Angela), Allen (Sandra), Bobby (Ramona). Sisters: Patricia, Rita, Annette, Pam, and Danielle. In-Laws: Lee (Henrietta) and Linda (Will). Grandchildren: Kalyzma, Allen, Braelon, Bradley, Jaryiah, and Jharvis Jr, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, additional family members, and friends.
