John Preston Henry Jr.

John Preston Henry, Jr. passed away on April 24, 2023 at the age of 85 from complications from multiple health conditions. He was born in New Orleans, LA on October 1, 1937 to John Preston Henry, Sr. and Euranie Butaud Henry. John graduated from LaGrange High School in Lake Charles, LA, where he played football and met Inez Janet Carpenter, whom he married July 5, 1958. He was a proud Marine and served from 1958-1962. John worked in the manufacturing industry as a machinist and supervisor. Aside from his love for the Marine Corps and his family, John loved to fish and hunt. He was patriotic, kind, and generous. He always put his family before himself.

John is survived by his wife Inez Janet Henry and three children, Sharon Henry, Elizabeth Bell, and John Henry, and his grandchildren, Victoria Bell, Bryce Henry, and Haley Henry. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws, and sister-in-laws. John was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Aline Jackson, Elvira Oestriecher, and Norma Rodrigue.

A viewing for John will be on May 2, 2023 from 4:00 pm -8:00 pm at American Heritage Funeral Home at 10710 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77038. The funeral service will be at the same location on May 3, 2023 at 10:00 am with the burial immediately following at the Houston National Cemetery across the street. A reception at the funeral home will follow the burial.
