John was born to Veta Alline and John Wesley Hearn, August 24, 1927, in Sarepta, Louisiana. He graduated from Sarepta High School in 1944 and shortly joined the United States Navy where he worked as a store clerk. He married Nora Juanita in 1949, and they were blessed with a daughter, Paula Diane. The skills John learned in the Navy served him well as he and his beloved wife, Juanita, opened their own store. Together they owned and ran the White’s Home and Auto in Humble, Texas. Years later John retired from the Houston Credit Union. He was eager to explore his passion for horse racing and spend time traveling. He became a thoroughbred owner and a certified racehorse trainer and was well respected in the field. John and Juanita traveled to their heart’s content. John especially enjoyed the Texas Coast, Las Vegas, NV, and Branson, MO.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Paula Walker; granddaughter, Shelly Looney (Stephen Looney); and great-grandchildren, Kaslynn Looney, Kaeden Looney, and Reve’ Looney; brother, Don Hearn; and sister, Sandra Hanson. He also leaves to cherish his memory many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Juanita Hearne; parents, Alline and John Hearn; and siblings, Eugene Hearne, Elizabeth Thomas, Ouida Hearn, Peggy Lee, and Dot Brown.
A private funeral is scheduled at Forest Park Lawndale with Rev. Don Kidd officiating. The family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org or to a charity of your choice.
