John F. Ganaway Jr.

John F. Ganaway, Jr., longtime resident of Houston, died Tuesday, 30 Sep 2014, at his home at the age of 84. John was born 21 Feb 1930 in Morgan City, Louisiana to the late John F. Ganaway, Sr. and Eloise Duval Ganaway. John entered the US Air Force in 1949 and reached the rank of TSGT prior to his honorable discharge at the end of his active duty commitment in 1951. While stationed at Eglin Field in Florida, he met and subsequently married the former Peggy Jane Newsome on 15 Nov 1951. After moving about for several years, the young family finally settled in the suburbs of Houston, Texas in 1960. He retired from GTE Telephone Services in 1993 and made many RV camping trips around the US during his early retirement years.

John was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Nelia White, Ozelia Simoneaux, and Eloise Dean; one grandson, Sean Ganaway.

Survivors are his wife, Peggy Ganaway; sons John (Marylouise), Mark (Sarah) and James (Karen) Ganaway; grandchildren, Anna Sturm, Lauren Ganaway, Matthew Freniere, Sara Talbott, Randy Ganaway, Amy Cink, Austin Ganaway, Alex Ganaway, Aaron Ganaway, and Alyson Ganaway; 9 great grandchildren.

Visitations will be Tuesday, October 7, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8: PM at Advantage Howard-Glendale Chapel, 1015 Federal Road, Houston, Texas 77015.

A short funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at 10:00 AM also at the chapel.

Burial will follow at 12:00 Noon at Sterling White Cemetery, 11011 Crosby Lynchburg Rd, Highlands, Texas 77562.
