John graduated from West Anchorage High School in 1964. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1966 serving in Vietnam from 1968 through 1969 where he was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal with Combat V.
After his service in the U.S. Marine Corps, John had a successful career in heavy equipment and trucking operations with organizations like Blue Diamond, West Coast Grocery, Mojave Equipment and Bethel Towing. He retired in 2007 and settled in Spring Texas two years ago.
John had many passions. He pursued his talents as an artist, horseman, private pilot, and with public service to his community. He was a volunteer mounted Deputy Sherriff for San Bernardino County in California. He also worked with Chamber of Commerce organizations in the Northwest to establish assistance programs for the families of deployed service members of which he was presented with a citation and U.S. flag from the Commander of the Navy Region Northwest.
John was a caring, dedicated father, grandfather, and husband. He was married to Geraldine Forster of whom he shared 43 years of loving companionship with. He was survived by his children Chris, Tammy, and Aaron, his grandchildren Kyle, Dylan, Lauren, Brad, Emily, and Tony, his siblings Carol, Dudley, and Robert.
