John Edward (Jack) Altman, 79, died June 25, 2011. He was born April 19, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri. He lived in the St. Louis area until 1973 and was a Methodist minister in several small churches near there.
After moving to Houston, he was in sales and later opened a private high school, Aston Academy. There he touched the lives of many young people who were dealing with personal needs.
On retirement, he remained active in St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church and also held a non-denominational Prayer and Healing Service for those with spiritual needs.
Jack was an accomplished artist and his paintings are on display in his home and the homes of his family and friends.
He loved meeting new people and talking to them about his special friend and companion, Jesus Christ.
Jack is survived by his wife, Betty Reilly and sons, John Altman (Sandi), David Altman (Caroline), Mark Altman (fiancée Amy), Jeffery Altman, and his sister Barbara Altman. He also leaves step-children Colleen Renfrow (Richard), Gayle Page (Ned), Glenn Reilly (Ann), and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A visitation with the family will be on Monday, June 27, 2011 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Pat H. Foley Funeral Home, 1200 W. 34th St., Houston, TX, 77018. Memorial services will be 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church, 2003 W. 43rd Street, Houston, TX, 77018 with burial following at Woodlawn Cemetery.
