John Delgado

Was married to Josephine Ramirez for 57 yrs. and had 4 children. John R Delgado Jr., Susana D. Herrera, Estella D. Vela and Raymond Delgado.

He was loved by all for his loving, kind spirit and humorous personality. He had a love for fishing and landscaping. Also liked watching his Western movies Bonanza, Gunsmoke and Rifleman. In his earlier days liked to go see wrestling at the Coliseum with his uncles, Julio and Louis. Later he would watch them on TV. But most of all he loved his little dogs. Gizzy first who after being groom had to have her little bow and nails done the same color. And then after came Buddy, his companion then for 15 yrs.

His first job working as a teenager was delivering groceries in the River Oaks area on his bicycle. Then went on to work at Hollybrook Elementary and Springdale Elementary. Retired at the age of 62 from Spring Branch ISD. But continued working with his brother George doing landscaping for teachers he came to know really well.

Thanks to all the Doctors at West Houston Medical Center and West Houston Family Practice. Special thanks to “Gloria Esparza” for being a friend and caring for him.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Trinidad Delgado, wife Josephine Delgado, Daughter Stella and husband Mike Vela, his brother Ruben Delgado and Joseph Delgado.

John is survived by his Children John Delgado jr. and wife Becky, Susie and husband Jessie Herrera, Son Raymond Delgado, brother George Delgado and his sisters, Rosie Melchor, Sandra Melchor, Sandy and husband Louis Melchor and Sylvia and husband Arnold Lira. He also leaves behind 15 Grandchildren, 28 Great Grandchildren and 8 Great Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many other family members and dear friends.

Pallbearers for the service will be John Delgado, Justin Delgado, Damian Delgado, Diego Ramirez, Jessie Herrera Jr., Samuel Turcios III, Benjamin Feuer, Michael Vela, and Hector Vela.

A visitation for John will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077. A rosary will follow from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM

A funeral service will occur Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a committal service.

A reception will be held Reception following services at Brenda’s Reception Hall, 13900 Beechnut Houston, Tx 77083.
