He was a graduate of Furr High on Houston’s east side. It is here that he developed a love for football. He obtained his associate degree at Texas Southern University. John attended the college of Biblical Studies and was a graduate of the Open Bible Academy class of 2018. He was the Director of Sales for Hybrid Lifts Custom Equipment.
John accepted his call into the Gospel at Fifth Ward Missionary Baptist Church. Soon after he was ordained and preached his first sermon under the guidance of the late Emeritus Leonard N. Barksdale.
Years later the Lord sent John to Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. He loved Shiloh! He so enjoyed the fellowship and spirit of his church. He was once again ordained under the leadership of Pastor Israel Holmes. John loved bible study and it showed on the churches weekly Facebook broadcast of “The Wisdom Seekers”.
He was appointed the Sunday School Superintendent role, but only held it for a short period of time due to work/travel commitments. He was also over the Sunday Prayer Ministry. He was an exemplary minister at Shiloh MBC.
He was a dutiful man of God, son and proud father. A beautiful person. Striving daily to be what God intended for him to be. We take comfort in the fact that our beloved was able to complete God’s will for his life in just 51 years. To God Be the Glory!!
John is survived by his mother Loyce E. Davis, daughter Olivia Davis, son Omarcus Sams, sister Olivia C. Davis, nephew Jamal R. Davis, as well as a host of aunts and uncles, other relatives and friends.
