On December 12, 1948, John W. Davis Jr. was born to Irene and John W. Davis Sr. He was the oldest of six children born to this union and they lovingly nicknamed him “Little John”. He was an instant lover of music and singing.
John was a graduate of B.C. Elmore High School where he was a proud member of the band and developed a love for the saxophone. At a young age he played at numerous clubs in the Houston area. With his talents he joined various bands, however his most memorable experience was with Johnnie Copeland and the Soul Agents. They were a very popular band in the late 60s and early 70s. That experience shaped his world for the better and expanded his love for music.
He met and married Loyce E. Gibbs and they shared two children.
Hard as it was for John to sit down his saxophone, he did and obtained his IT certification in Computer Science at MBTI. He loved his work, and he did it well. John was indeed an excellent provider for his family. One of his true loves besides music was playing tennis. He also enjoyed jogging. Then in his later years he converted to cycling. He was a very athletic man throughout the years. Whatever new thing John liked, he did it well.
He is preceded in death by his parents Irene & John W. Davis Sr., his beloved sister Deborah Telford and his youngest brother, Micheal Davis Sr.
John leaves a lifetime of precious and loving memories to his wife Loyce E. Davis and his daughter Olivia C. Davis. He is joined with his son John W. Davis III. His three grandchildren, Jamal R. Davis, Olivia Davis and Omarcus Sam. He also leaves a host of siblings, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
