Im very saddened by the passing of John. He is the father of our son John IV. I have fond memories of our life together as a young family. He was a wonderful,  attentive and involved  dad. Later we worked together to assure our son would have everything he needed to grow up and be the amazing man and father he has become to our grandchildren, Katelyn and John Riley. Back then John was also an avid photographer...Not to repeat other comments but he loved his motorcyles. His favorite thing to do was for us to go on a Sunday afternoon ride on his beloved Kawasaki.
John and John graciously accepted my now husband Darrell and I into their home for 6 weeks when ours was flooded by Hurricane Harvey. John and Darrell had alot in common and would talk for hours about politics, coin collections  and old classic cars. 
Darrell and I both now have fond memories of John. 
May he forever rest in peace.

I hadn’t seen John in a while but was very sorry to hear about his illness and passing.  John would come every Sunday when Michael was ill and take care of the pool. His smile was always welcomed.  He and David sat side by side with me at Michael’s graveside service, sweet John with his arm around me.  You will be missed.  I hope Michael met you at the Pearly Gates!

To my beloved father who is now in heaven. You will be greatly missed, and the impact of your loss is more than you will ever know. You taught me so many things, I am who I am because of you. In my eyes my father was a Vietnam veteran, who cared greatly for this country and what is going on in it. He took great pride in his family "The Butlers" and I have heard hundreds of stories of him growing up with his family and the things they did together. They sang together, played in bands together, cooked great food together, built cars together, and so much more. My father truly loved the time period he lived in and the family he had. He had a bigger heart than he knew how to show.  I can't believe you're really gone ; (

There are so many thoughts and memories of our big brother Joby going through my mind and it’s hard to put them all into words more appropriate than those of my other siblings.  Joby had a passion for his service to our country, love for cars and his Harley and mostly for his wonderful son and grandson , both of whom he was extremely proud.  I remember good times back when we were kids and how much fun it was having lots of siblings as there was always someone to hang around with and a big brother Joby who had a cool yellow Mustang convertible to take you somewhere.  Always thought my oldest brother was way cool and had the greatest smile which he had even as an old guy, was still a handsome man .  Pray that now he’s at peace in heaven with our brother Michael and all who have gone before us and will always wish we had more time together before he left us. Love you always Joby ❤️!!

God  has His timing brother John. Sometimes we don’t like it very much, but the Grand Reunion to come is the only one that will eternally matter.
“His ways are everlasting.” (Habakkuk 3:6) We will all see you there, of that I am confident.
May you relish His peace that does indeed surpass our understanding. 
Rest in that Peace and know that we love you. That too is everlasting.

There isn’t much more I can add to the sweet and heartfelt memories previously left by my siblings. Our big brother John or ‘Joby’ as he was affectionately nicknamed by our dad, is now in heaven with our parents and brother Michael.  John was, all about cars, motorcycles, collectibles and his service to our country. His son and grandson were his pride and joy.  There was much more to John than can be written here, but the most important thing is that he was loved by this family and he will always be our Joby.  Be at peace big brother. 

My big brother John, Joby to the family, was the first born to John and Lyndell Butler, the first of eight children, probably a hard position to be in, in the family hierarchy. He loved his family, his country, motorcycles and cars, probably in that order. He was an avid collector of comic books, coins, etc. He was a quiet man but get him talking on a subject he was passionate about and he would certainly bend your ear.  He and my husband, Scott, had a genuine friendship born of their mutual interest in cars. Many years ago Joby kept an eye on a ‘65 Corvette that Scott was having restored in Houston, as we were in Little Rock.  They had a long conversation not a month ago about cars and Joby’s Harley.  Joby was a private man but loved his family and, apparently, his cat, who I never had the opportunity to meet. I am thankful that he is at peace and I hope they have a Harley Club in Heaven!  Rest In Peace big brother. 

Even though I didn’t speak the language of cars, guns, Harley’s, comic book or coin collecting my big brother John and I always managed to find a way to connect. He lived his life in his own style and loved to share his passions with others. I shared my siblings favorite daily prayer book with John when he became ill.  He told me he read it everyday and that it really helped him. I pray his soul is at peace and he experiences all the wonders that we all dream of after our life on earth is complete. Good bye big brother John. See you on the other side. 

“I did it my way” is a great description of my brother John’s life. He took what was important to him and lived it in a proud and honest way. His military service remained important to him all through his life. Out riding on his Harley was a great joy and source of freedom to him as well.
He was a very private man, but had no problem standing firm on what he believed in. One of those things was his love for his son John IV, or as we call him “Little John”, which made him Big John, and that he was, the oldest of 8 siblings, our Big Brother.
God Bless you brother. We love and will miss you.


My brother John was the oldest of eight children. John was a very private soul, he loved his family and remembered his time in the Air Force with great respect. I spoke to him a week ago for two hours and will greatly miss our conversations. God bless you Joby you will be missed by all your siblings and family. 

I had not seen John in a while but we shared a lot of life experiences from double dating to performing with David Butler as The Ramblin’ Boys.  We are just 5 weeks different in age. Sorry to lose him at this time.  And John can certainly rest easy because many stories I have will never be told.  Amen.
