He is preceded in death by his parents, John Burg Sr. and Loretta Fitzpatrick Burg.
John is survived by his beloved wife Sharon Fisher Burg; siblings Mary Burg Johnson and husband Mark, Ellen Burg Register; children Steven Burg and his wife Roberta, Randy Burg and his wife Cheryl; grandchildren Krystal Samples, Nicholas Burg and his fiancée Amanda Parsons, Blake Burg, and Tyler Burg; great grandchildren Trevor Samples and Evelyn Parsons. He was also blessed with scores of extended family and friends.
John was in the Navy from 1962 to 1966, where he studied air conditioning and refrigeration before being stationed on the USS Coral Sea-CVA-43. It was in the Navy, where he met the love of his life, his wife, Sharon. They were married in 1963. Inseparable from that day, they built their life and family together with a strong foundation of love, morality, and beliefs. He was, as many have said, a great man.
After leaving the Navy in 1966, he moved his family to Houston, Texas where he worked for a Houston Contractor. In 1977, he started his own air conditioning company and was an active member of the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) where he spent some of that time serving as a director of the organization. It was during this time, he began his teaching career with ACCA and at the Houston Community College. In 2004, he sold his company and joined Century A/C supply. This is where he was able to focus on his true passion of teaching and supporting the next generation of HVAC individuals.
In addition to spending time with his family and friends, he also enjoyed BBQ Cook-Off competitions, fishing and boating, hunting and volunteering at the Houston Livestock and Rodeo, where he was a life time member.
