John Joseph Bell, a long-time resident of Houston, Texas, died unexpectedly on April 28, 2023 at the age of 71. Born in West Orange, New Jersey, on December 4, 1951, John was the eldest of five children born to the late Henry and Norma Quigley Bell.
John attended Seton Hall Preparatory School prior to receiving his college degree at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey in 1975. It was at Seton Hall where he studied business and marketing that he met his wife Michele who was a Nursing Student. They married in the Summer of 1975. John was employed by Kodak as a film salesman in Rochester, New York, until his assignment to Houston, Texas in 1977. In 1980, he moved to Portland, Oregon, where he joined Dupont Graphics. It was a pleasant surprise to John and his wife when his work provided a transfer back to Houston. He had come to find Houston to be his true home. He had dear friends who meant everything to him.
John shared a great passion for golf. His golf excursions began at the Essex Falls Golf Course in New Jersey. His memberships also included Tapatio Golf Course in Boerne, Texas and his beloved Victoria Golf Course on Vancouver Island. Upon retiring in 2014, John and Michele, his loving wife of 48 years, spent many a summer in Vancouver, then returning to Houston to enjoy time with their friends and family.
His other great passion was for baseball, he was able to visit all the professional stadiums here in the USA and Canada.
John is lovingly remembered by his many cousins, nephews, nieces and Godchildren. His love of music that he shared with them, his glorious vinyl collection of the Rolling Stones and Beatles will continue to play in their hearts – the music that touched his soul.
