Joey, as his close friends and family would call him, had no shortage of heart that never stopped giving. He believed that every living being was to be loved and free- and standing up for those rights came naturally to him.
He lived with integrity and embodied the meaning of passion which overflowed into everything he loved and pursued. He befriended everybody who crossed his path with a bright, infectious smile and a kind word. He had a zest for life which he lived to the fullest, and viewed his time with us as both a journey and a gift.
Joey was a deeply spiritual individual. His faith in God was prominent due to his Roman Catholic upbringing, which he found great solace, understanding and peace.
Though his struggles knocked him down he refused to crumble, he had an unwavering determination to never give up, continuing on his march forward hand in hand with God until, as he would explain, he was called home.
A fiercely loyal and caring friend, fiance, brother and son who always put himself out to help others. Joey never missed an opportunity to spread love and joy by making others laugh and giving whatever it was that made him happy so they could feel that positive energy that overcame him.
Joey always said, "You have to give away what you have in order to keep it". He lived by those words and encouraged others with his outlook. His passion for life was contagious and he taught something to anybody he spoke to.
To know Joey, was to love Joey.
A talented athlete, musician and artist, Joey played the drums and created art from his heart. Joey will always be with us in our thoughts and in our hearts. He will be remembered by his intense desire for others to feel his love and enthusiasm for life.
Joey was predeceased by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Maher, and Mr. Rudy Caballero.
He was the beloved son of Terence and Denise Maher; dear brother of Tim (Megan) Maher, and Jill (Ben) Parker, cherished grandson of Mrs. Alba B. Caballero, and his fiance, Kirby Lynn Boyle. He is also survived by his nieces, Emory and Evelyn, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
