Joe Sellers

We, the family of Joe Sellers, who passed into God's loving care on July 3, 2011, want to wish him eternal peace and rest. Joe was born April 11, 1922 to George and Sarah Sellers in Houston, Texas. He and his twin brother John and their father, George, were the founding members of the grocery chain, Sellers Bros. Sellers Bros has continued to grow through four generations. Joe is preceded in death by his twin brother, John, his sister, Mary Davidson, and his parents, George and Sarah.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mabel J. Sellers. His children: Ronnie Sellers and wife, Patricia, their children, Kirk Sellers and Elisa Garber; Steve Sellers and wife, Donna, their children, Kimberly Council and Darla Ringer; Joey Sellers and wife, Sandra, their children, Erin Dodds and Chad Sellers; David Sellers and wife, Sandra, their children, Allison Leonard and Shannon Bedinger; Johnny Sellers, his children, Jason Sellers and Sarah Sellers; Janet Steele and husband, John, their daughter, Lindsey Steele; Suzanne Sellers Byford and husband, David and his son, Henry; and Michael Sellers. Eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces, friends and neighbors. A large family that God has blessed enormously.

We all wish him God's rest and peace at the end of a long and good life. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to the Salvation Army or the Red Cross for all the victims of the natural disasters this year.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, 5-9PM at Forest Park Lawndale's Family Chapel. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, 1pm at Forest Park Lawndale's Main Chapel.
