Just wanted to extend my heartfelt condolences to everyone in the Ramirez family. I had the honor of meeting Mr. Ramirez on several occasions with my parents Rosie and Ray Rocamontes they were good friends to both Mr. Ramirez & Lupe from back in the early 50s , when my father was also serving in the United States Air Force at Lackland- in San Antonio . My parents and myself a baby at the time shared their quarters for awhile, Till our quarters became available. I always enjoyed the 🇺🇸 Veterans Day Celebration @ the Post w/ my Dad & Mr. Ramirez they had a lot of mutual friends as lifelong Houstonians. Dad attended Sam Houston High as well. So many good memories of good friends

To the Ramirez Family:  I admired your dad’s ability to get people to warm up to him. He touched so many lives, and I’m sure you’re proud of his memory. I’m so sorry about his death.  Your dad led a remarkable life — I never heard anyone say a bad word about him.  Thinking of you all during this difficult time. I’m so sorry for your loss and want to extend my sympathies to you. Your father was a great man who will be missed.  I hope the good memories you have of him will comfort you in the days ahead. Sending well wishes and prayers to you all. Our deepest condolences to the Ramirez family,  we will miss so much especially on holidays since the day our dad your POW buddy went to be with lord you stepped in to make our holidays memorable you will always be in our hearts. We worked with Joe at Southern States Optical Co. and in all those times we never heard and unkind word from Joe.   He was an amazing individual, ironically we saw his birthday parade just weeks ago which was a tribute to an amazing man.

The last time we saw Joe was Anna Mosqueda's wedding in Herman n park and that day Joe's son was announced as the new Commandant at Texas A &  M.

What an honor to have known him.  May he rest in peace.

My dear friend Rochelle and your loving Family, I’m so sorry to have heard of your Father’s passing. I didn’t know him personally but loved hearing your stories about him on our phone call’s  in your drives to and from Houston. Know. that your time together and all the memories you made will forever be in your hearts. If Heaven is for Angels, then that’s where your Father will be, knowing he is watching over all your family till you all will meet again.

I believe it was a celebration for his birthday a couple of years ago. 
Adam and I heard of this great and honorable man who was being celebrated by his family. 
As  the family introduced Joe along with his two sons and they stood at the front and Joe with the microphone, began to say how he was honored standing beside them, because they also served in the arm forces.  But my attention was focused on his next sentence “ I enlisted in the Army, while serving overseas, I was captured,  I was a POW in Korea for 33 months.

My thought was, this man is a “GREAT MAN”. I told Adam, he has a lot of story to tell. 

That night,  we witnessed how proud his entire family was of his strength, his pride and most of all his, admiration for the men who served with him as POW’s, their race nor color mattered, he was proud to call them his brothers, his family. 

Mr Ramirez, you have served and represented the Untied States with such endurance and great honor.   

Now you are resting in final peace.  And in addition to what you’ve accomplished,  you raised a fine family. 

Yes sir, we all salute you, THANK YOU!

Today is A sad DAY, You Will Be Missed. Mr Ramirez.

Dear Joe Jr. and Family, 

I recall multiple visits with your family back in the day.  Visiting your home in Houston and also seeing them occasionally when they visited us on campus while we were attending Texas A&M.  I will always fondly remember the graciousness and decency shown to me by your folks on the visits to your home. Your Dad  Joe Sr., was someone I looked up to as a great dad to my classmate, his war record and service well..... he was a superior role model, a Veteran of the same war my father fought in yet another connection you and I shared.  I recall our parents meeting for the first time and our Dad's visiting with one another sharing where they were, who they served with etc... during the Korean Conflict.   

Through the years I've occasionally recalled the visits to the Ramirez household back in those days, lots of fond memories of those times and of the entire family but; always your dad and his kindness and quiet knowing smile (you know the one, that knowing Dad smile that he would give us as we left out letting us know he knew we were most likely planning something and were up to know good ) and of course your Mom, her open way of simply making me feel right at home by treating me just like she was my mom and if I didn't act right she would straighten me out just the same as any one of her own.   

Please accept my sincerest sympathies and my heartfelt sorrow for your loss. He was  a good and decent man, the kind of Man we need more of these days and the kind we miss deeply when they depart. Stay strong and know that he will be remembered but; more importantly, take solace in knowing that he is now in the loving presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
